In recent years, we’ve seen a troubling rise in traffic fatalities—and it’s important to understand we all have a role in preventing these tragedies, including passengers.
That’s why I’m proud to introduce a resolution marking #NationalPassengerSafetyWeek with @RepSamGraves.
Whether it’s asking your friend to wear a seatbelt or taking the keys from a family member who has had too much to drink, it’s incredibly important that passengers speak up when they get in the car with someone who may be distracted, impaired, or driving dangerously.
By designating this week as #NationalPassengerSafetyWeek, we can raise awareness and help educate Americans about the role passengers play in preventing traffic tragedies.
More information on the bipartisan resolution from @RepSamGraves and I here:
It's not only the driver's responsibility to plan for a safe ride home, it's critical for the passengers to participate as well.
Plan for a safe ride home by:
-Designating a driver
-Using a rideshare service
-Taking the keys from an impaired driver
Don't let someone impaired drive. Speak up.
