Brian Shaffer is passionate about roadway safety and impaired driving. He joined Dräger in 2003 as a software engineer. In his various roles there, Brian has since had the opportunity to graduate the Borkenstein Alcohol and Drug courses and the honor to discuss alcohol and drug impaired driving with law enforcement, prosecution, forensic science, and traffic safety professionals across the United States. He has observed numerous Driving Under the Influence (alcohol and drug) arrest procedures, roadside checkpoints, ride-alongs, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST), and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluations at many different jurisdictions, and has witnessed collection of oral fluid and breath samples from hundreds of different test subjects.
